Williams, AZ             May 25, 2007 Friday
Day 7 & 8                                 378 miles     7 hours  from Albuquerque, NM to Williams, AZ
We were on the road at  8:00 am mountain time. There was not much to write about while on the road it was pretty much desert all the way until we got close to Arizona, we stopped for about 1-1/2 hours at the meteor crater which was quite interesting to see of course it is a hole in the ground 550 feet deep and 5000 feet across the speed of the meteor was at 297,000 mph when it hit the earth. We did enjoy visiting the crater. Ashley  finally got to see a tumbleweed which she had been on the lookout for days now. We arrived in Williams at 3:00 pm, the RV park (Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park) is beautiful. The campground is full being a holiday weekend and it is the opening for Rodeo season (this is a big rodeo town) with all kinds of festivities going on. Route 66 here is very quaint, the town of Williams is like the all American town it is very nice here. Tomorrow we are taking a train ride to the Grand Canyon and in the evening we are going to try to go to the rodeo.
May 26, 2007 Saturday
We woke up this morning and had to put the heat on to take the chill out it was 59 degrees  but warmed up to mid 70's.
Today was amazing! We took the train 65 miles to the Grand Canyon, our trains engine was a steam engine built in 1906 completely restored. We were in the Luxury car the ride was beautiful 2-1/2 hours. The Grand Canyon was spectacular. We walked a couple miles of the rim and had lunch over looking the canyon. Weather was perfect. We have a whole lot of fantastic pictures to post for all to look at. For our train on the ride back we were served champagne (and Colleen drank her fair share) then our train was held up by cowboys robbing us. They rode along side of the train on horseback and hopped aboard. It was quite entertaining. The pictures will explain the day in much better detail. At 8:00pm we went and had a Mexican dinner on Route 66. It is now after 10:00pm here 1:00am at home eastern time. Which means time to go to bed to get up early, we are on the road tomorrow.
